Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it! August 30th 2025 marked a huge milestone for The Stage Door Choir — our very first public performance, opening the Parade Walk at Merton’s first-ever Pride!
From the first note, the energy was electric. Two of our wonderful sopranos Brigitte and Stella stepped forward for short solo sections (a rare treat for us, since we don’t usually do solos!), and the whole choir cheered them on. Seeing their confidence shine was moving beyond words, and a testament to the supportive, uplifting community we’ve built together. 💜

A Year of Growth, A Moment to Shine
It’s hard to believe that just a year ago, The Stage Door Choir was only beginning its journey. The progress every single singer has made in that time is incredible. Today’s performance wasn’t just about singing — it was about celebrating how far we’ve come as a choir, and how much joy we find in making music together. Our singers truly are our legacy, and this performance was a beautiful way to mark that. 💫

Backstage with the Choir
Before stepping out, our director Katie Lou shared a heartfelt message with the singers:
“To our newer singers who might be feeling a little anxious: don’t be. We’ve got you! The best part of being in a choir is that no one is ever out there on their own – we are a team, and we always have each other’s backs. We may be small, but we are mighty — and today, Merton gets to see why The Stage Door Choir is so special.”
We were also thrilled to welcome our new Greenwich MD, Dom, to his very first Pride with us. He received the warmest of Stage Door welcomes, and we can’t wait to grow under his leadership too.

Words from the Merton Pride 2025 Team 🌈
After the parade, we were touched to receive this message
from the MertonPlus Pride Team:
“The Stage Door Choir gave us the perfect send-off for our very first Pride Parade. Their beautiful performance set the tone for the whole day — joyful, inclusive, and full of energy. They helped turn Merton Pride 2025 into a resounding success, far beyond our hopes for a brand-new Pride celebration in the borough. We are so grateful for their voices, spirit, and support in making this historic event unforgettable.”

Here’s to Many More 🎤
Today was just the beginning. We couldn’t be prouder of our singers, our community, and the love we shared through music at Merton Pride 2025. Here’s to many more performances — and to the joy of singing, community, and pride! 🌈✨
